Reflection on Modelling Ash and change of approach

Modelling Ash has been fairly easy but i came across a problem. When i modelled his belt and trainers in nurbs, i found out that they could not be UV mapped and so i had to convert the the belt and trainers from nurbs into polygons. This then allowed me to UV map the necessary model parts of the character.
